Event Description

BLACK BEARS IN VIRGINIA: A Ranger talk about the life and physical habits and characteristics of the black bear is presented. Attention is given to the bear's place and contribution in Nature. A black bear skull, bear claw, a black bear hide complete with head, a bear cub puppet and various photographs are used to demonstrate different aspects of the bear's behavior. Attendees are allowed to handle and examine the visual aids. The "Be Aware of the Bear" brochure helps educate attendees on how to avoid encounters with bears. An information sheet with coloring page is also provided. A safety message is provided. A thirty minute film "Seasons of the Bears" is shown with interpretive information interjected throughout the showing.
