The winter season is upon us and that means that it’s time to hit the ice in search of fish! Take A Kid Outdoors (TAKO), Johnson County Conservation, Iowa DNR, the City of Coralville, and the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Conference Center are partnering on this free event. Participants will learn the basics of ice fishing, safety, equipment needs, techniques and fish ID. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids and adults alike to enjoy the outdoors. A limited number of fishing poles will be available; please bring yours if you have one.
Dress for the weather and pack layers! Start with a base layer that wicks moisture away from your body and trap in the warm air. A combination of natural and synthetic layers works best and make sure your outermost layer is windproof and waterproof. Wear warm socks (preferably wool) and insulated waterproof boots, and always cover your head and hands.
Brunch will be served at 10:00 AM. This event is FREE and OPEN to the public. Please help us reduce waste by bringing a water bottle, plates, silverware and other brunch items. Advance registration is requested, but not required. Please like us on Facebook and let us know you are “GOING” on the EVENT page.
