Come celebrate “Embrace Your Geekness Day” with TAKO (Take A Kid Outdoors). Adults gather your kids, come and embrace your geeky side with fun, science related activities. Be prepared to get wet and possible sprayed with bubbles and “washable paint”. TAKO will be hosting an event Saturday, July 18th at the Iowa City’s Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. To get there take Gilbert Street/Sand Road south to intersection with Sycamore Street.
Please bring a squirt gun/water blaster/other to the event if you have one. The fish might be biting, so bring your fishing pole if you have one. We will also have poles and bait available.
Remember a 2015 fishing license is required for anglers 16 years and older. Licenses can be purchased online or at local stores such as Fin and Feather, Scheels, Hyvee and more.
Participants should dress to get wet and muddy. We may be using paint and dyes. Dress in layers and be prepared for a range of weather conditions. Bring a hat, work gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, drinking water, and any other items you may need to be comfortable in the outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring a digital camera and/or binoculars.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM. This event is FREE and OPEN to the public. Advance registration is requested, but not required. Questions about the event can be directed to TAKO President, Judy Joyce at (319)-330-3833 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
