Get the Garlic Out! II
Date: Saturday, May 14, 2011
Closest Town: King City, Ontario
Meeting Time: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Garlic Mustard is an invasive species which is significantly impacting forested habitats across southern Ontario. NCC's Happy Valley Forest is a protected oasis of deciduous forest within a highly urbanized area. Help NCC staff maintain the health and functionality of this ecosystem by removing Garlic Mustard from the forest floor, thus opening up the habitat for colonization by native species. This activity will help encourage use of this area by rare species such as Jefferson Salamander and Acadian Flycatcher and restore native biodiversity to this beautiful forest. Let's Get the Garlic out together!
Please make sure you eat a solid breakfast, and pack a lunch to bring with you for the day of the event. Snacks and beverages will be provided by NCC to keep you energized and hydrated.
