Event Description

The winter season is upon us and that means that it’s time to hit the ice in search of fish! Take A Kid Outdoors (TAKO), Johnson County Conservation, Iowa DNR and The City of Coralville are partnering on this free event. You will learn the basics of ice fishing, safety, equipment needs, techniques and fish ID. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids and adults alike to enjoy the outdoors. A limited number of fishing poles will be available; please bring yours if you have one.

Dress for the weather and pack layers! Lunch will be served at noon. This event is FREE and OPEN to the public. Please help us reduce waste by bringing a water bottle, plates, silverware and other lunch items. Advance registration is requested, but not required.  Please like us on Facebook and let us know you are “GOING” on EVENT page.  For Questions, please contact Judy Joyce, Executive Director at

(The pond is located at 2250 Holiday Rd, Coralville, Iowa 52241. From Highway 965 (Coral Ridge Rd) turn right onto Holiday Road. Follow Holiday down the hill and turn right at the sign for North Ridge Park.)
