Improve Your Lesson: Take it Outdoors!
Promoting Clear-eyed Wonder in the Outdoors

This workshop is appropriate for elementary and secondary teachers in all disciplines and will promote the utilization of outdoor learning environments in a variety of disciplines (science, math, art, social studies, language arts). Outdoor resources will be used on the MNU Olathe campus and at the Prairie Center in Olathe Kansas. Teachers will 1.) learn about the benefits of using outdoor and nature resources in their own discipline, 2.) engage in exemplar (best practices) outdoor-oriented, developmentally appropriate learning activities addressing Common Core and NGSS and other current standards and 3.) if credit is desired, will plan and submit a essay paper on outdoor education as well as an outdoor lesson with a focus on learning standards relevant to their own content. 2 hours of continuing education credit are available from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Dates: Thursday, June 12, 2014 and Friday, June 13, 2014
Time: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (Friday June 13, we may start at 7am to avoid the heat)
