Spoutwood Farm Center will offer an introductory beekeeping workshop, Meet the Honeybees, for kids and adults ages 9 and up. Led by Spoutwood’s Beekeeper in Residence and current CMBA President, Roger Williams, each session will instruct on the life and work of honeybees, the practice of beekeeping, and the next steps for becoming a beekeeper. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the bees firsthand with an hour of open-hive time.
Workshops will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the following Saturdays: April 12th, April 26th, May 10th, May 24th, and June 7th. The workshop fee is $15 per individual. To encourage parents and children to learn together, we are offering a special rate of $20 per family. For a more in-depth experience, participants may register for all five session for a total of $50.
If you have ever wondered how a honeybee lives, where honey really comes from, or even what it tastes like warm from the honeycomb, join us as we visit the honeybees’ hive home and get to know them better! Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Register today at www.spoutwood.org/education.
