Each day of Naturemania focuses on a different aspect of nature and includes opportunities for a wide variety of activities, demonstrations and displays:
Monday – The Art of Nature
Students rove Swindler Cove Park observing the natural environment and creating art that not only illustrates, but also embodies facets of the Park’s varied habitats and ecosystems.
Tuesday – The Nature of Animals
Students learn how different animals’ life cycles and methods of survival are impacted by the nature of their surroundings and also get an opportunity to meet some of these awesome creatures, close up.
Wednesday – Roots of Nature
Students truly dig in by taking part in service projects that allow them to experience the importance of plants and trees, the benefits of restoring green spaces and the power of teamwork.
Thursday – Nautical Nature
Students learn how water – the most basic and essential element for life – affects living things that reside alongside and in the Harlem River and how human nature can impact not only the River, but their own their lives.
Friday – Yay, Nature Day!
Students end the week celebrating all they have learned through competitive field events, game shows and group presentations of their discoveries in nature.
