8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Registration Deadline: Friday, March 11, 2011

Instructor Tom Aranow will provide a fundamental understanding of fire behavior and the use of basic techniques for prescribed burns initiated for the purposes of ecological management. Tom Aranow has been participating in and conducting prescribed burns for 20 years. He is certified by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group as a squad boss, crew boss and single resource boss and conducts annual training sessions for the Nature Conservancy and the Prescribed Fire Council of Wisconsin.

This training is recommended for those who are interested in serving as a volunteer with The Nature Conservancy or other conservation organization, but is not sufficient to qualify participants for a TNC prescribed fire crew. This class is an introductory program for those who would like to work on a fire line under the supervision of qualified supervisors and burn bosses and is recommended for those who wish to pursue S-130/190 certification. A lunch will be provided, please note any special dietary needs upon registration.

ALNC Members:  $40/person; Non-Members: $45/person
