Event Description

Many people use GPS technology in their cars, iPads or iPhones. But how can a hand-held GPS unit be used to enhance your experience in nature or on the trail? Based on Garmin handheld GPS units, this indoor/outdoor hands-on class will show you how GPS works and why it sometimes doesn't; different types of handheld GPS devices and their features; how to work the main screen and more. Did you know that GPS can keep track of the miles you've hiked, your average speed, and lots of other useful information? Bring your GPS unit if you have one. Instructor: Jim Meyer, Trail Management Services, LLC. Meet in the Retreat House. Members $75; Nonmembers $85. Pre-registration is required.
