The primary programs I work with are based in Cache Valley Ut. The atmosphere is great, the families are wonderful but there is still a huge divide between nature and some of the Latino Familes we work with. Growing up in a Hispanic family myself it was not a priority to get the children outside. We are seeing this trend again when establishing new outdoor programs. I believe parent involvement is crucial but we are not reaching them as much as we would wish. Is this happening elsewhere?

What are some reasons why Latino families are not getting outside and how can we conquer those barriers?
