I work with Texas Parks and Wildlife in a program called Texas Outdoor Family that aims to (re)introduce families to the benefits and joy of camping and basic outdoor skills.  Due to my position I have been contacted by a few teachers who want to take their elementary classes on an overnight campout - sometimes on school grounds, other times in a park or on private land.  Have any other teachers out there attempted similar programs?  Any pitfalls to avoid or shortcuts to enhance success?  From my point of view classroom programs such as these will pay huge dividends, but the teachers are relatively isolated and if they/we could pool resources and experiences we could reach a broader audience with much greater success.  I appreciate the ideas and feedback in advance!
