C&NN Connect contributor and award-winning author Amy Jenkins (Every Natural Fact: Five Seasons of Open-Air Parenting) sent a note to some of us about a reading she will be doing in Rockford, Illinois at a Barnes and Noble book store on July 9 at 4:30 pm. Please attend if you are in the area, and please connect with Amy who lives in Milwaukee.
I am responding to her note more publicly because bringing nature readings by nature authors to book stores like Barnes & Noble and others is an important idea we have been talking about, in addition to children's reading programs at libraries to enhance literacy programs. We would love to engage book stores and publishers as sponsors of nature readings followed by nature activities. We might call it "Book Worms." To all nature authors (for kids and adults), perhaps you and your publishers can help us with this idea. If you and your publisher like it, give it a try and let me know about it, especially if C&NN can participate in some way.
Amy, very glad about your book winning all those awards. Let us know if you have any thoughts about this idea. All the best, John
