The Natural Leaders Network empowers a worldwide youth movement to strengthen the bond between children and nature.
A movement is here. It has arrived and it needs leaders. A legacy lies ready to be written and the ink for that legacy is within the energy of a young diverse generation.
The 2012 Legacy Camp!

Twenty-four young Americans participated in the 2012 Natural Leaders Legacy Camp from August 31 – September 5, 2012 at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, with generous support from The North Face, the REI Foundation, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Guiding the Way

When hiking on difficult or obscure trails, I often find myself guided by cairns. Cairns are delicately stacked piles of stone that often start out with a large base and come to a point. They…Continue

Nature as my Church

Hi Heather, Juliet and others. (Heather, welcome to the forum!) We are working on a C&NN directory that will be comprehensive and will make it easier to connect with others in your geographic region or area of interest. In the meantime, Heather, were you able to search by state, as Amy suggested? Also, visit www.childrenandnature.org and check out the Movement Map for campaigns and initiatives. On that site, you can also download the Natural Leaders Tool Kit. In addition to the people Amy mentioned as resources, you might also want to contact Avery Cleary (a member here). She may be able to put you in touch with some regional Grassroots leaders. Let us know how your efforts go!

Oh that's clever! Why didn't I figure this out? I've always been doing a manual page-by-page sift job. Dow!

Heather, and others, one easy way to find local leaders is to go to the members section and type in your two letter State code. For you it would be "CA." There are two big efforts in California -- San Diego and the Bay Area. Leaders are Anne Fege or Mary Roscoe respectively. They are also both here on C&NN Connect. Again -- go to the members section and type in their name to find them.

Hi Leaders-

An invitation for any local natural leaders to join me in organizing and carrying out my 7th Annual Earth Day Celebration on Stinson Beach (Marin County, CA). Just posted it as a Let's G.O. event. See http://homepage.mac.com/zpine/ed/ed.html for details. Contact me via the address at that website.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me...

I'm on the hunt for any nomadic outdoor pre-schools - nature, forest, whatever! There's a huge issue over hand hygiene in Scotland happening and I've been asked (voluntarily) to find out what other nomadic outdoor pre-schools do in terms of managing hand hygiene (believe it or not).

These are pre-schools who have no fixed site but walk and visit a variety of different sites during the course of a week. The pre-schools need to operate 5 days per week. If you know of any such pre-school anywhere in the world, please let me know. They can be state run, private, playgroup but must operate daily.

Many many thanks!

Thanks for helping us stay updated! Those of us that made it to Outdoor Nation participated in the biggest youth listening session. I have a group heading to the Nebraska listening session. I love what is going on!
