Here At Teaching Kids To Fish we are working on a conservation program, would you have advice, information or help you could offer us to get this project underway.

The community members of West Seattle were shocked 2 weeks ago to find out that the crown jewel of Seattle's Park system, Lincoln Park...a magical place with towering firs and cedars, sweeping views of Puget Sound, quiet forest paths and beaches, was the site of a proposed canopy zipline adventure installation by a private corporation...to be located right in the middle of the urban forest sanctuary. With hours, 2 Facebook groups, a blog, and numerous sub-groups organized to fight the proposal, which had been in the works for over a year, in secret. Last night, over 200 community members met with Parks to speak our minds. It was a high-energy group determined to save the precious forest. Today, we received word the project has been (reluctantly) withdrawn, and we are joyous that the urban forest will stay free of this type of high-impact development.

Happy World Environment Day!  Take time today to go outside and enjoy the blue skies and your kids.

The great outdoors is a wonderful place for learning opportunities.   Tomorrow is National Trails Day.  Grab you backpack and set out on a new "edventure."

Mother Earth's natural resources need our stewardship.                                              Our family has planted trees in Maryland, in her honor.

My son and I volunteer at our local nature preserve, Wehr Nature Center in Wisconsin. It is so important, we believe to preserve our planet!
