The round lunch challenge sounds like a great fun, Jane! We played something like that in the garden last week - taking turns finding round plant pieces & parts and bugs. Our town's Wooden Boat Festival happens every Sept. along the shoreline of Kachemak Bay in Homer, Alaska. My 6-year-old daughter's two festival highlights this year were our 6-mile bike ride out along the Homer Spit to/from the festival and getting to help row the ol' double-ender (in this photo).

Yes, Margie, there were definitely other things on most people's minds on the 11th.

Grandparents' Day was a bit overshadowed this year.

Carmen, that sounds wonderful.  Where was the Wooden Boat Festival?

My granddaughters and I did not get outside but I helped them make their school lunches.  We had a round theme going.  Everything that went into the lunch had to be round:  apple, pear, round sandwich (we cut the bread into a round shape), Pringles.  They had so much fun!  I did, too.

Did any of you get outdoors with grandparents or grandfriends to celebrate Grandparents Day yesterday? What did you do? I saw a few youngsters rowing a 1920s wooden double-ender and making colorful wooden play boats with their grandparents at our town's Wooden Boat Festival yesterday - a wonderful way to celebrate a beautiful fall day on the water.

Thanks for sharing your Grandma Camp experience, Laura.  I am motivated to seek out a camp that is in my area.

Interesting that you bring up singing "Joy to the World" in June.  For the past 7 years, I sing that to my granddaughters when I'm at their house and they're ready for sleep.  They each get a back massage along with the song.  And, it doesn't matter what time of the year it is.  They all want to hear that song!!

Oh, and, your book is wonderful!!

I took my two oldest grandchildren to Grandma's Camp this weekend.  I'd love it if you would read the blog I wrote about it and post a comment there.

Hi everyone, nice to meet you all virtually.  Laura, thanks for getting us rolling. Jane, love the salad! Margie, look forward to reading Outdoor Play Adventures.  I've been working with C&NN Natural Families Network for a while and as a new grandmother, I'm really excited about this group. Wanted to let you know that Suz has a few more elements to add to this page, including a slide show feature and then we'll start promoting the site.
