For those following our progress in Ohio, we now have four active Leave No Child INSIDE Collaboratives and a fifth that is almost there.
Leaders of the Leave No Child Inside Collaboratives of Ohio are in the process of organizing two significant and related events for 2010.
Early April in Delaware Ohio
A professionally facilitated planning session where a multi-sector group of high
level leaders from all regions of Ohio will
draft an Ohio
Children & Nature action plan. Our vision for this plan is not
to create more work, more expense, or more programs. Our vision is simply
to have the Children and Nature message integrated into the work of existing initiatives,
agencies and departments, AND to open the door for connections and partnerships
between state and non-governmental agencies that will lead to deep cultural
change on this issue.
Fall, 2010 – Date TBD (Proposed dates: September 24, October 1 or October 8)
The public announcement of the Ohio Children & Nature Action plan, where we
will celebrate the work being done all over Ohio to reconnect children with
nature with accompanying media coverage for this very important issue.
We have met with advisers to the Governor, and we feel we have a decent chance of getting state government involvement in our plan. If not, we plan to move forward anyway.
Between April and the fall, we will take the points or action steps from our April meeting and write them into a plan to be unveiled in the fall.
We have secured funding for the April event.
