I recently volunteered to head up a schoolyard naturalization project at my sons' school. The parent council was on board, the principal seemed to be on board, then the school board (Calgary Catholic School District) told us that it had banned schoolyard naturalization projects. In the past too many had included elements that needed to be maintained and had deteriorated after the initial enthusiasm of the project wore off. My plans included zero-maintenance native trees, shrubs and grasses, but it didn't matter.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Thoughts on how to get the board on board?
