Hi All ~

Are you passionate about ALL FAMILIES connecting to nature? I am!

Part of our work with the Children & Nature Network, a big part of it, includes reaching out to diverse and underserved populations. I am interested in forming a Focus Group to discuss ways to discover how culturally diverse people do connect with the natural world, and how we can reach and learn from and with them. I want to honor all Natural Families - not only those who are in family nature clubs, and not only those who connect the way we think they ought to.

In thinking about this group, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Am I passionate about all families connecting to nature?
  • Am I interested in learning about and exploring how different cultures experience nature?
  • Do I believe that I can make a difference and help impact future work with culturally diverse groups of people?
  • Do I have experience with culturally diverse people?
  • Do I have a little spare time to dedicate to this group (phone and/or email)?

If you answered "yes" to at least some of the questions above, you might consider being part of this focus group!

There are clearly many directions this conversation could take, as there are many cultures and many ways to connect to the natural world. Socio-economic factors also play a large role in understanding ways and means of connecting. For the purposes of this group, we will initially focus on the Latino community. In the future, we will want to discuss and learn about other cultural groups as well.

I don't know how much interest there will be in this work, but if you are interested in potentially participating with this group, please contact me directly, either by phone or email.

Thanks so much, and please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
