River of Words promotes environmental literacy and watershed awareness through the arts and cultural exchange. ROW conducts a free, annual international poetry and art contest for youth, in affiliation with The Library of Congress.

Wow! So glad to have found this site. This work has always been at the center of my work as a Montessori guide. What other activities other that a contest are available to promote this awareness and exchange?

Heads up, young poets and artists! Looks like the deadline has passed for U.S. entries for this year's River of Words poetry and art contest. The international deadline, however, is not until Feb. 1. Children in grades K-12, sharpen your pencils, get out your brushes, and check the web site for details about this inspiring nature art project.
