Hello Scotland! Anxious to share what we Americans are doing and hearing about your great work. Juliet mentioned some research which I hope she will share at some point, and also mentioned a pre-school program started by Terri. I am on the Board of a statewide child care non-profit in my state of Washington (where Microsoft and Starbucks are, not where President Obama is). We are just starting a couple of pilot training programs for caregivers to bring nature to kids in child care every day. I would be interested in sharing what we are doing and hearing what Terri is doing in Aberdeen. Best wishes to you all. John

Failte Deborah

(That's Gaelic for "Welcome")

Thanks very much for joining this group. Hopefully, in time, some early years professionals based in Scotland will visit this site too. You should say hello to Terri Harrison who's running a great Nature Nurture Project in Aberdeen for pre-schoolers. I'm sure she'll tell you more.

Best wishes
Juliet

Hello Juliet!
When it comes to children and nature I believe there is no better combination...I just wish I could convince others working around me the same thing :) I am working on it though!
I am looking forward to building connections with like-minded early childhood educators to build my dream of connecting children and families , nature, co-workers and community to nature education in preschool.
Nature Hugs,
Deborah

Hi Matt
Lots and lots and lots. On the play front, the Government has just issued a £4m fund for charities looking to develop free play...outdoors too!

We have 3 outdoor learning development officers, with a 4th to come shortly to take forward outdoor learning at a national level, developing a Framework for Outdoor Learning.

We've undertaken various research on aspects of outdoor learning and greenspace too.

Best thing is to watch this space and see what gets posted from time to time.

Hello Juliet,
I've heard about great children's play stuff happening in Britain, what sorts of exciting happenings are there in Scotland?
