Fellow Virginians!
I'd like to share with you some very exciting events coming up...

Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, will be in Leesburg March 14th and in Charlottesville March 15- each time to give a talk about nature-deficit disorder and how to best proceed in the future. Tickets are $12/adult and $8/student.

The Piedmont Environmental Council is proud to be hosting Mr. Louv as part our celebration of our 40th anniversary protecting and promoting open space and access to nature in Virginia's Piedmont.  At each location, we are hosting a VIP Reception- a chance to mingle with our community's leading conservationists, educators, health care professionals, and Mr. Louv himself, while enjoying some hors d'oeuvres and drinks before his lecture. We also have some sponsorship opportunities still available- all sponsorships come with blocks of tickets and can be made in the name of a charity. Both options are tax-deductible and proceeds support our work protecting the Piedmont- including Richard Louv's visit. For more information about sponsorship, please contact Kate Hopkins khopkins@pecva.org.

On the 14th, join us at Leesburg's Tuscarora High School (801 N. King St, Leesburg VA, 20176) at 7:00 pm. Seating begins at 6:30 and is general admission, so be sure to come early to get a great seat. The Leesburg Reception will be at nearby and beautiful Lightfoot Restaurant (11 North King Street  Leesburg, VA 20176) at 5:30 pm. A free book signing will follow the lecture. Louv's books will be available to purchase, and any new or renewing PEC member at the $35 dollar level or above will receive a free copy of Last Child in the Woods.

On the 15th, join us at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville at 7:00 pm. Seating begins at 6:30 and in general admission, so be sure to come early to get a great seat. The Reception will be held at the office of sponsor VDMO Architects (200 E. Market St.
Charlottesville, VA 22902 )- who are very committed to incorporating nature into public spaces, and built, along with co-sponsor Hess Construction, the incredible Manassas Park Elementary School- based largely on Richard Louv's principles. The reception is at 5:30 and is within walking distance of the Paramount. A free book signing will follow the lecture at the Paramount. Louv's books will be available to purchase at the event, and any new or renewing PEC member at the $35 level or above will receive a free copy of Last Child in the Woods.
