Bio
Hi, my name is Alex and I am an MSc/PhD student at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. I am currently researching my Masters' dissertation on the attitudes of policymakers to Outdoor Education in Scotland and the barriers and opportunities for increasing capacity for OE in Scotland over the next few years. Many people (I have interviewed) describe the next five years an exciting time to be involved in the Outdoor Education / Outdoor Learning / Learning Outside the Classroom field in Scotland. We hope that Scotland can become a leader in policy and practice in OE/OL over the next few years and I will be focusing much of my future PhD research on this.

As a student of Sustainable Development, this research is grounded in academic theories on ecoliteracy and the recognition that current mainstream education fails to foster this. I hope that my research will bring a unique perspective to reconnecting children (and wider society in general) with nature that is needed if we to address our current crises of sustainability.

I welcome any comments on the ideas above.

Alex :)
