Forest School Trainings in the U.S.,.......who's doing it?

I am located in Vermont, and I am hoping to connect with others here in the northeastern part of the U.S.I just found out I missed the opportunity to be a part of conference that Claire Warden was presenting at in Chicago! Feeling a little disappointed, I have been searching for equivalent opportunities to learn from our forest school practitioners from…See More

Quiet in the Forest

Quiet in the ForestIt's the beginning of all our ECO (Educating Children Outdoors) programs in surrounding schools and the students have fallen back into our outdoor learning routines beautifully. The crisp fall air, the stunning colors of autumn and reuniting with special places in the forest have created unique learning opportunities. This past week children at East Montpelier Elementary silently wandered in the forest looking for their very own special place. This routine serves every child…See More

First Week of Forest Preschool at The North Branch Nature Center

I noticed two major signs of fall this week:  the temps were crisp and cool in the morning, and eager 3, 4, and 5 year olds started their first week of Forest Preschool!  Being outside the whole time, the children used their imaginations and took advantage of the forest to have a grand old time. Our days always start with "Loose Parts Play."  As Forest Preschool teachers, we embrace the adage, "One man's trash is another man's treasure," and gather old kitchen utensils, sticks, rocks, old…See More

Bio
I am a teacher and a naturalist who has been leading children and young adults outside for over 15 years. I currently direct ECO - Educating Children Outdoors- in public schools and offer trainings for teachers. I also lead a Forest Preschool one day a week at. I love to go tracking in the snow, make medicine from plants, watch birds, and play games in forest, fields, and mudpuddles. I am also skilled in permaculture, primitive skills, and storytelling.
I am looking to connect with other teachers and naturalists who are connecting children and adults to the natural world.

Hi Amy! Hearty welcome to C&NN. I love all the things you do in nature with kids. They sound very exciting and enriching. (I want to go along!) Have you checked out our Natural Teachers Network? I think you'll enjoy the sharing and resources. There are plenty of other places around the network where you can also make yourself at home. I so look forward to your contributions and to learning more about you and what you do.
