Wild Play: Parenting Adventures in the Great Outdoors

Excerpts fromWILD PLAY: Parenting Adventures in the Great Outdoors, by David Sobel(published by Sierra Club Books, April 2011): from Introduction:       Just as native plants are endangered and traditional cultures become globalized, a childhood of outdoor play is fading away. Outdoor play is like the forest that gets cut down lot by lot for the new housing development. Each new home is only a small incursion. It’s hard to object to just one more house, but bit by bit, the roamable woods…See More

Hello David

Greetings from Scotland. Wild Play is a super book - I've been dipping in and out of it, since my copy arrived a fortnight ago.

I also really like your nature design principles - I advocate these as a "cheat sheet" for educators and playworkers in that planning activities which take account of these will result in an activity that goes down well. Please feel free to check out my recent blog post about this (and correct any mis-interpretations I may have made)!

I hope you find this site an asset and thanks again from across the ocean for all your books, thoughts and writings.

Best wishes

Juliet
