"I was thinking the same thing...I actually have a chicken coop that seems to attract animals as well--so that might be enough bait on its own! I've come out at night and scared off some pretty large raccoons, and a neighbor walking her dog…"

" I really like the night vision camera idea. You could put out some dog food or corn and see what might be attracted at night. Could be a great way to talk about nocturnal animal movement."

Thanks for joining C&NN Connect. I'm already reading you book! It's really interesting in that the advice is very similar to the sort of thing myself and other school grounds practitioners advise over here.

John mentioned that you've got a new book about to be published. What might be fun is to have a "book club" about it here on C&NN Connect. I've participated in other online book clubs. Basically everyone is given a couple of months to buy the book and read it. Then a thread is created with a few questions at the top and everyone and anyone can chip in at any time. However if the author is prepared to add the odd comment or too it does make it a rather special thread.

Oh yes, before I forget, I'd be interested in any feedback on my blog, "I'm a teacher, get me OUTSIDE here!" Over the summer I've written a series of posts about The Coombes School which is a stunning example of taking learning outdoors. There's already one book written about this school, The Creative School. However another book is due to be published in 2011 called The Coombes Approach.

Cheryl has told me about your wonderful book, and another children and nature colleague Tamra Willis told me yesterday that she uses it in her classes with great success. As Cheryl mentioned, we are in the beginning stages of creating a newsletter for those who have registered on the Natural Teachers Network site, about 2000 to date. Of those, 100 have signed up on our Ning social networking site. Tamra has offered to help get the newsletter started, and we would love to have your input as well. Contributions from you book would be terrific. Would you be receptive to a conference call some time later this month? Very glad to have you aboard. John
