Hello Jane

Sorry it's taken me a few days to respond - I've been away and on the road a lot. Here's Terri Harrison's page.

Best wishes

Hi Jane,
You raise a very important point about research on the efficacy of the benefits of connecting children with the natural world in their everyday lives. We especially need more long term research on these benefits, especially benefits on health, learning and behavior. Parents need this research in particular, but educators and health professionals especially need this research so that they can become more active in getting kids outside in nature every day. In your reply to Suz, you said "We for example are using standardized sdq andf EL qus with children, parents and teachers pre and post." Would you be willing to join the Natural Teachers Network group site and share some of this testing that you are doing and some of the findings? If you join the Natural Terachers Network Group site quickly, you just might become the 100th member, and be immortalized in history forever. Thanks for joining the Network. John

Hi Jane, You mentioned that you were looking for research. One place you might want to look is on our web site: http://www.childrenandnature.org/research. Also feel free to pop into the Natural Teachers or any group and start a discussion about research. It's the best way to get feedback and find others struggling with similar issues. I think we're all in agreement here on this:

>My visions is that indoor schools will embrace out agenda so fully that all children are taught outside as part of everyday curricula.

Looking forward to more of your ideas and contributions.

Hi Jane. Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us. I'm interested in learning about Nature Workshops, but the link didn't work for me. Did you happen to hear Rich Louv in the UK? We have an international group here, and a Scotland group, both run by Juliet Robertson, which might interest you. You also might like our Natural Teachers Network. Wherever you make yourself at home here, I hope the forum proves a rich source of resources and camaraderie.
