Backyard Bound Youth Summit

Jasmine is a high school intern at the Crissy Field Center's I-YEL Program in San Francisco, where she implements civil service projects around the city, restores urban trails, and researches environmental justice issues.

She is a lover of hiking and nature walks, and cross country skiing.

Me and my fellow interns at Cavallo Point in Sausalito! Guess which one I am?

 

I am an intern in I-YEL (Inspiring Young Emerging Leaders), a program made up of a group of high school interns that devote 30 hours a month to restoring urban trails, researching environmental justice issues, and working on civil service projects. This program entered its 10th year this year, which is also my first year!

 

I had the opportunity to partake in many educational and outdoor experiences through this program, such as like planting grass at the Presidio Plant Nursery, volunteering at the Crissy Field's annual Earth Stroll, attending seminars at Cavillo Point across the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito to hear Jon Jarvis, the director of the National Park Service speak , and several other experiences that have exposed me to the huge network and community of people who share my passion for the outdoors.
