I just posted on my blog about a program in Portland, Oregon where pediatricians are prescribing play and family-friendly activities for kids who are overweight or obese. Sounds like a fantastic way to change the world, and I know there are other programs like this out there. I think Kaiser Permanente is a big player here. - Judy Molland earned a B.S. Honors from Hull University, U.K. and a Diploma in Education from the University of London, U.K. She is an award-winning teacher and writer. Her latest book is Get Out! 150 Easy Ways for Kids and Grown-Ups to Get Into Nature and Build a Greener Future (Free Spirit, 2009). She is also the author of Straight Talk About Schools Today (Free Spirit Publishing, 2007) and is contributing education editor for Dominion Parenting Media, the largest syndicate of parenting magazines in the United States. Her articles have appeared in numerous publications, including Parents, Instructor, New York Newsday, and the Web site Parenthood.com. She was won a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities, a Certificate of Appreciation from the California Department of Education, and a Gold Award for Editorial Excellence from Parenting Publications of America.
An avid hiker, backpacker, skier and rock climber, Judy is a high school Spanish teacher and a leader with her local chapter of the Sierra Club.

- Thanks so much for asking! We had a lovely turn out. Beautiful camp hidden in the middle of Conchord, NH. Amazing town. Can't wait to go back.
During our presentation, we shared all of the great tools available to parents today, such as your book and others. After the main presentation, we hosted two break out sessions. There we took the two groups out on a nature walk and shared some ideas from your book and a few others. The participants seemed to have a great time.
We will be using some of your ideas for our upcoming events. I'll write up a book talk for your book on our website www.kidsadventuring.org in the coming weeks. Can I use an image of the cover?
