- Dr. Merk is a trainer and consultant to preschools and other early childhood settings. She specializes in early brain development and nature education in preschools. She is currently conducting a sabbatic project to document great examples of nature education in preschools. Dr. Merk has worked with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension for 20 years. She has a Ph.D. in Family Studies and Human Development and a Master's degree in Child Development and Family Studies.
