Phoenix Smith is passionate about making earth honoring healing practices accessible and meaningful for diverse communities including people of color, GLBT families, communities, and youth. I am currently completing a Graduate certificate in Ecotherapy at JFK University in the Bay Area. As an African American woman who lacked positive experiences with nature growing up, Phoenix understands the healing power of nature that can help restore wholeness and wellness. She is a practitioner of earth honoring ways of living that include connecting with ancestors as a wellness practice, creating ecospiritual ceremonies for toxic urban sites, mindfulness meditation and communion with the natural world. Her life purpose is to support individuals and communities in earth and mindfulness based ways of healing for peace and wellness. Phoenix consults with recreational, social services and public and private health agencies to introduce and encourage the use of ecotherapy wellness, sustainability and earth honoring practices through culturally aware programming.
