The Yolo Basin Foundation is dedicated to educating and inspiring people about wetlands and wildlife of the Central Valley of California. We run an environmental education program called Discover the Flyway at the 17,000 acre Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area that is owned and managed by CA Dept. of Fish and Game. We serve 4,000 K-12 students a year by providing hands on activities and field studies at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area. Since we began in 1997 we have provided field trips for over 40,000 students from 100 different schools in five counties. We raise all funds for the program from private sources through memberships, a wetlands festival and grants. We target underserved youth by providing mini grants to teachers to cover the cost of bus transportation so no class is ever turned away because they can't afford a bus. We have an MOU with CA Dept. of Fish and Game to provide the education programs for the Wildlife Area.
