News from an Edinburgh Nursery

Busy at the nursery I work in at Edinburgh.  We have a new woodland to play in which is close to the nursery.  The wood is 15 years old and hasn't been touched since it was planted.  Staff, rangers and parents have worked hard to get it ready to use.  Back at the nursery we are preparing for mud play-big style.  The area is being created alongside a consultation process with children and parents.23 days until my big trip to America.  I will be spending  3 weeks looking at nature play facilities…See More

I have been a Forest School Leader for 5 years. I take my class out once a week to play in a wood local to our nursery school in Edinburgh-we are in central Edinburgh in a very urban setting. I am interested in 'Nature Play', and am involved in training early years staff in a neighbouring authority in 'nature play'.

Hi Ros! Warm welcome to C&NN Connect. I'm glad you found us and hope you make yourself at home in discussions and groups. There is a lot of interest in Forest Schools here, as you may have gathered. Our ECE group and Natural Teachers Network will probably interest you, among others. Thanks for letting us know about your U.S. trip. I hope you'll continue to share your activities, ideas and photos with us and find this a rich source of resources. Hope to see you here again soon. Cheers!
