Blue Mushrooms

Some of you may remember posts from The Cabin Path. For many years, I had children's art/nature workshops. Sadly, I no longer have those workshops. There is still that "fear factor" in nature, and since it involved my backyard (52 acres), there were liability insurance rates and risks. I miss them and the all of adventures we had exploring, looking, learning, and creating!

The color hunt idea is a great one using the paint squares at Home Depot or Lowe's.....or any paint store. So many kids don't see nature, especially the older ones who are so focused on texting with their friends on their cell phones as they walk around. They don't see what is around them, literally and figuratively. Thanks for sharing this. John

From the pictures, it looks like the children are looking for shapes in nature that correspond to letters, rather than finding an object (turtle for T) whose name starts with one of the letters of the alphabet. I suppose you could do one or the other. Fun activity. John

At 5:18am on December 21, 2009, Sarah Crutchfield said…: Nature is so healing! In mid September, my only sister was diagnoised with ovarian cancer. I cancelled all workshops at The Cabin Path (my home) and cared for her. She passed away Nov 14. Then, 2 weeks later, I lost my favorite aunt..also to cancer. I also care for our 93 yr old, blind Mother.
It has been a trying time...I'm trying to cope! Back home now, I have spent many hours walking the trails, the labyrinth..and seeing what others see when they visit. I received many cards and notes from families, and I realize how much others (all ages!) need nature to heal. I almost decided to discontinue my work, but I truly believe that The Cabin Path is a place to heal and grow. After the New Year, I plan to start back..and expand...and see where this path will lead! www.thecabinpath.com
