Susan Alden Weingardt has enjoyed a 22-year career with the US Forest Service. Her first Forest Service assignment was on the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest as a member of the youth conservation corps. In 1989 Weingardt began her formal career with the agency as a Landscape Architect on the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. Since that time Weingardt has accepted special assignments as a partnership specialist for the National Winter Sports Partnership Program, the Olympic Summer Games of 1996, the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2002, and Joint Ventures: Partners in Stewardship. In 2003 Susan went to work for the National Partnership Office of the Forest Service where she focused on the agency’s centennial activities, work with the National Forest Foundation and external outreach. Currently Susan serves as Partnership Liaison for the Rocky Mountain Region of the Forest Service in Golden, Co.
Susan holds a B.S. in Landscape Design and Construction and a M.S. in Recreation Resource Planning and Management, both from Colorado State University. Susan resides in Evergreen, CO where she and her husband Bernie enjoy introducing the fun of the outdoors to their young daughter. Currently favorite recreation experiences revolve around the excitement of the “new experience.” Together they love to ski, hike, camp, fish, garden, paint and travel.
