america your children are not dead they are only sleeping

your children are

not dead; they are

only sleeping.

There is a poem

here somewhere

I know I am close

and it will be about

the unspeakable

violence and brutality

in America.

 About the moral

and spiritual

of market values

a cancer of life

and the  living.

the deadness we do live

as a people

and call it consumerism,

and  how we try

to pass off

 job training as education

for the corporations

and force our

children to play along

wink and nod.

America your children

are not dead

no… no…oh no

they are merely sleeping

dreaming a new dream

for us all

one that is real and alive!

playing and dreaming and living with aliveness

 is simply what children do.
