When I was a little girl, A Girl Iof the Limberlost
was my favorite story. I identified with the girl because she played the violin and loved nature. There were other reasons, too, but I won't go into those in a public blog.
I just wrote an article about the Gene Stratton Porter experiences kids can have in Indiana. Both of her Indiana homes are open to the public, and they are a wonderful way to get a look into the life of someone who put nature first.
She was an extraordinary woman for her time. She was an environmentalist before the word was even coined.
