Help Butterflies Fly Away Happy: In the wild, 2% will succeed

Once upon a time, harming a butterfly was a punishable crime. Hundreds of years ago, the Irish believed butterflies carried souls to heaven and interference was illegal. Ancient cultures worldwide have all cherished butterflies. Each butterfly lays it's eggs on a particular plant: Sulfurs choose Cassia.

It's impossible to count the different species of Sulfur butterflies. They fly in endless shades of white, yellow and orange. It's the result of massive hybridization; a unique feature found only in this family of the entire butterfly population!

Candlestick Cassia, evergreen shrub or small tree is also considered rare, because of it's widespread natural distribution; the tropics, Africa, America, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.

As a small tree, it can reach heights of 30 feet tall and 15 feet across. On the mountain in Costa Rica, swarms of yellow, white and orange butterflies chasing each other around the wild Cassia tree was a most uplifting sight.

These plants grow well in southern gardens or in a warm northern greenhouse:) We harvest our own seeds and offer them to our friends and at etsy.com/shop/barefootprincessita. They come up quick and in just a few days, thrive in rich, rain watered soil. Keep them free of all pesticide, no organic or natural repellants. Sulfur butterflies will come and bless you with hundreds of tiny little eggs.

In the wild, a small 2 percent of hatched caterpillars will succeed and fly away happy. With help from us, kept in a screened inclosure or green house, their chances of survival rises to 99 percent!

We've created a beautiful 81/2" x 11" keepsake color brochure including cultivation information, close up views of the butterfly's life cycle and tips for scientific observation:)

It's available with the seeds mailed hard copy, pdf attachment or Microsoft*. pub for use as a guide to help your little Prince or Princess witness this super natural miracle!
