We are delighted to announce the completion of MOTHER NATURE'S CHILD, our film about nature's important role in child health and development. The film focuses on three phases of childhood -- preschool, middle childhood and adolescence. Footage was shot in a variety of settings, urban and rural, and includes some unique scenarios: a group of inner city students learning to fly fish, a sixth grade teacher who incorporates “power spots” and fort-building into his curriculum; a grandfather taking his ten year old grand-daughter on her first deer hunt, a six-month ski/canoe semester with a group of teens new to the wilderness. Besides the moving voices of the children themselves, expert interviews include Richard Louv; tracker Jon Young; outdoor educators Brother Yusuf Burgess, Misha Golfman and Amy Beam; authors Stephen Kellert and David Sobel; Nancy Bell of The Conservation Fund, parents and teachers. DVDs (with study guide insert) will be available by December 15th. See website for further information: http://www.mothernaturesmovie.com/
