Thanks for the greeting. I am currently a student at the University of Guelph, studying Landscape Architecture. It is now my fourth year and I am to do a thesis on a topic that relates. I have chosen to talk about the connection of nature to our children as well as nature deficit disorder. If you have any suggestions that would be great!
Hi Suz, Thanks for commenting about our Raptors in the City program. The word "peregrine" (we study the peregrine falcon), means to wander, and historically this cliff-dwelling species did migrate. However, many of the species have taken up residence on skyscrapers and thanks to the plentiful food supply (peregrines prey on other birds - so think pigeons) there is no need to migrate. The couple we study stays at their skyscraper home year-round to protect their nestsite.
If I can figure out how to do it, I will post on the teachers and families groups. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks, Suz! I am going to write a post on the HSBS NING and use C&NN Connect as a little inspiration for visual learners (like me!). I think they will get super jazzed once they see how vibrant a community can be. It's still new, so lots of room to play & have fun! :-)
Hello Suz, thanks for contacting me. I just signed up here and am not so computer savey nor do I lean towards communicating this way but I am interested now what with what you shared about so many people interested in this. I will share more later but for now, thanks so much for reaching out. I am in gratitude for this.
To give you a sneak preview of what See Jane Explore is about, please enjoy the following link in which children and their families are participating in nature: http://youtu.be/fRVZFw9BcVM I have many more activities available for viewing on my YouTube account and my main website, http://www.SeeJaneExplore.com
Hi Suz, I manage a farm market in Norfolk, VA and love teaching children about all that is good for their bodies. I do not yet have children myself but it might be a different story in a year or so. Take care!
Hi Suz! thank you for your warm welcoming! I hope we keep in touch, and I am so glad you liked my blog. I dont even know why I started the blog, but since I found this network, I think it is wonderful to connect to other pelople that work in similar jobs and hece the same passion. I will join the international group you suggested. Thank you again!
Thanks for the reminder about Grandparents Day. We certainly do contribute many valuable gems to our grandchildren, if I do say so myself! I really enjoy spending time with mine. I will see them on Sunday at a family barbeque which means we will be outside and I will find someway to explore nature with them.
Thank you for following me on Twitter. And, thank you for your support to help me navigate around this remarkable community.
thank you, Suz! I am breathing a sigh o' relief--I'll look into the creation of a CO group here in the next few days--I invited all of those folks to be my friend on this network, so hopefully I can build on that and create the group via invitation. Thank you again! Ariella
Thank you for connecting with me, Suz. I look forward to participating in this community. Do you interview or feature community members? I would be interested in sharing SeeJaneExplore.com with the community. I am constantly blogging about my life as a Grandpreneur and love to share with others.
Suz--thanks for the comment, and thank YOU for moderating this forum. I apologize for not understanding the nuances of Ning--but I am wondering about what John recommended both a) posting for everyone and b) starting a Colorado group. I think I can figure out how to start the group, but I'm not sure about the best place/forum for creating a post like the one I was sharing w/ the Colorado crew--perhaps just to the event board and no where else? Any advice will be HIGHLY appreciated. Ariella
We have been very busy this past spring and summer- it really is a job- so sorry I haven't kept in touch better! Between programs, caring for the animals and the family of 6, I haven't spent as much time online as perhaps some critics would dare to suggest. ;)We have had an awesome summer teaching and allowing people to experience wildlife- bear cubs, foxes, skunks & snakes- up close and personal. As Iowans- young & old alike- get to experience it, they in turn learn about it and walk away appreciating what the outdoors has to offer. This morning I am relishing in the memory of the butterfly tagging event my family participated with on Saturday, it is a great motivator for me today! If you have any encourgement for me today that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks D
