I have seen your site a long time ago and was delighted to find people who felt the same like me about the importance for children to be connected with nature. I think of course that children, since the day that they are born, ARE connected with nature but that it is our out of balanced lifestyle and values that disconnects them from it. :-)
But nothing that can be done with love and inspiration to change forward again. As so many people at your site are doing.
I do hope, as time allows me since I am very busy promoting the book, to join in often at your forum.
If you, or others in the group, have suggestions of ways I might be able to spread the word about http://www.meetup.com/the-lower-mainland-green-team that would be great!! Still brand new, and suggestions and advice are welcome!!
Thank you for your kind welcome! I was thrilled to report our bird watching experience and I work very hard at getting the students outdoors more often. It is often a struggle to get teachers onboard, so this project was a success... I was even asked to return and do bird identification monthly! I'm always in search of creative ways to get teachers involved in learning within nature. In addition to the bird count, we have an amazing teaching garden funded and built by PTA, but it has had limited usage by classroom teachers. I'm am constantly perplexed to such resistance. Any suggestions or contacts in helping make nature a part of a regular curriculum would be very helpful. Fondly—Kristy
Thanks for the warm welcome! I am always in pursuit of more exciting ideas and activities to explore with the children and staff at my school! We are located just outside of Chicago. Feel free to pass my namealong to anyone fromthe same area!
Thanks for the welcoming message and your kind words about the trailer for "And This Is My Garden" -the wonderful teacher, Eleanor Woitowicz, keeps the school gardening project going & growing - last year 75 children had their own vegetable garden right at home - this year 15 more children will get a garden - and this in a community of ~ 600 residents, north of the 54th parallel - one person can make a difference & each one of us can make a difference in the way we live. Thank you for bringing us together - warm greetings from Winnipeg, Canada! Katharina
Thanks for the message, Suz! I just checked out the International C&NN Connect Group created by Juliet Robertson, and sent her a message and a request to join. I also just joined your group “Nature as Therapy”.
See you here later and Greetings from Hamburg, Germany!
Gave the speech and won the club and subsequently won the area competition so delighted to do so well and get the message out about children and nature. The website was very useful and to be honest was influential in choosing the topic. Thanks
Thank you for your kind welcome. I am so excited to find the Children in Nature movement growing in our country! I can't wait for spring and plan to start an after school hiking club at our local elementary school! Carol Garboden Murray

Thanks for the Welcome! I am committed to the Children in Nature movement. As I write this, I have a green worm bin behind my desk (handy to toss in banana peels and apple cores) and an ever growing pile of beautiful pine nuts on my desk. We are in process of training new volunteers here at the Lake Oroville Visitor Center, reminding them what they already know...that mud is healthy and sunshine is good for you, bugs are superfun and around here we love to learn about scat!
Thank you for the welcome! I want to keep thinking about and learning about the intersection between nature and therapy. Up until now my herpetology and nature involvement has been about conservation and education (and simply being there in the experience), separate from my work as a therapist. Looking forward to more involvement with C&NN.

I think I joined those groups. Also, Mr. Barlow hasn't responded to my attempts to contact him.
Thanks for the welcome Suz!
