Thanks for the welcome! I am excited to be able to hear more about what others are up to across the country and around the globe! We've got a great effort underway in Minnesota and eventhough the economy is in rough shape right now, it's a very exciting time for our movement, especially with the new Legacy Tax Amendment that was approved by MN voters last year that sets aside $$$ for parks and recreation projects.

Many thanks for the kind words and I am glad you appreciate the value of looking to the many threads of attraction that lie outside that are not 'Nature' per se but still engaging and of value to the explorer. My degree is in Biology yet I find myself up to my elbows in history and geology these days in preparing my programs. So much to learn and share and so little time ;-)

I am really excited to explore this site and topic. I am raising my twin boys, who are now 6 and a half on my 13 acre property in San Diego County. All boy/All Outdoors/All dirt, sticks, mud, worms, bugs....we are raising chickens and honeybees.

Yes, the Closter Nature Nature Center is a nice little sanctuary in the midst of suburbia.
There's 136 acres to care for, and we offer kid's programs as well as adults.

Thanks so much for the welcome! My main interest is sharing nature with children of course and I currently work at a nature center where I get to do just that. My other relevant interests include outdoor/survival skills, kayaking, mountain biking, and taking long wanders with my dogs.
