Suz, thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to exploring this site more and learning about great things to do with my kids outdoors. Feel free to take a look around my ning site www.better-choices.info
Thanks Suz, great to hear from you. I am certainly passionate about getting kids out of the classroom and out to natural environmental classroom and learning opportunities! I am looking forward to spending time with your organization.
I'm just getting familiar with this site. I publish an outdoor magazine that features Minnesota's state parks, trails and rivers and I am very concerned about getting young people involved in the outdoors. I have a good story in our upcoming issue about kids using technology to learn more about nature. I'll post it as soon as it goes on our website. I'm also interested in using Ning as a social site for our www.mntrails.com. What does it cost to have a Ning site?
Sara Grover of Project Get Outdoors sent me a link to this site, which is marvelous. I grew up in the days when we went barefoot all summer, rode bike to the creek to play with minnows, and played hide and seek after dark. Television and TV dinners changed our world radically, and it's time to reclaim lives. A lot of damage was done in the past few decades, but I'm thrilled to see people turning things around for the next generation.
Suz, yes I sent out invites to hundreds in my database the other day after joining this network! I think this is a terrific way for us Natural Teachers to keep in the loop and get inspired by the work of our colleagues!
Thanks Suz for the welcoming. In fact I am just starting on that venture after moving from Canada almost 2 years ago. I am mostly working with preschoolers and children under age 7 but will eventually expand.
Yoga poses are inspired a lot by nature so it's easy to tell a story and engage children at the same time. I firmly believe that we should not create any tension or fear with younger children, thus approaching environmental issues in a completely different way. By using metaphor, stories, and their imagination, I can introduce a subject that will get their attention.
I am happy to be part of this community and I am looking forward to share and learn.
Suz, thank you for the welcome and for your compliments about my blog post. I am still trying to find my way around the place. I am very new to the world of public blogging but not too new to forums.
I have found natural teachers and I keep a close eye on it. I am sure that I'll learn something there. Hopefully I'll find something to share.
I am sure I'll be right at home here.
