Hi Jane. I'm a practicing landscape architect and a university lecturer at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, U.S. and I have the great opportunity to accompany my wife to the Life History Society's 2012 conference this October in Richmond, Surrey.
I have a practice and scholarly interest in environmental design and environmental literacy, therefore I'm very much interested and visiting nature classrooms, outdoor and environmental education centers while I'm there. I recently joined the C&NN International Group and see that you are in London. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions for me regarding schools, gardens or other places to visit? Would you know of organizations, perhaps your own, with whom I could meet while I'm there to learn of their efforts and project sites related to children and nature?
Greetings dear,

Hi Jane. Thank you for your nice comments. What lovely May Day memories your father has. I agree - the time is right to bring back seasonal celebrations and floral wreaths. I think that the more technologically advanced and speedy everything is, the more people also crave connection to the natural world and to community. A national flower festival would be fantastic!
Hi Jane! I'm delighted that you found us and have jumped in by joining groups and discussions. We have a growing UK and international community. I know I'm not alone in being very interested in Cool It Schools and Concrete Gardens, along with your other work. I hope we continue to see a lot of you and that you find the forum a rich source of resources and camaraderie.
