Kimberly- How great to find someone from nearby on here.  I run an organization called Urban Blazers in Philadelphia www.urbanblazers.org

We provided active, outdoor programs to kids from under resourced communities.  We work with groups over the course of months and years and utilize our activities to teach teamwork, leadership and once they are hooked on hiking, conservation.

Would love to connect in person, edolaway@urbanblazers.org

Hi Kimberly,

I just returned from two weeks in Panama and Costa Rica and am catching up on these posts.  I want to thank you for joining C&NN Connect and especially the Natural Teachers Network.  Your dissertation journey sounds exciting and I hope you share the final results with our group.  You have already receive some guidance and information from some of our NTN members.  My contribution would be to direct you to Dr. Herb Broda, Education Professor at Ashland University in Ohio (hbroda@ashland.edu); Dr. Tamra Willis, Assistant Professor of Environment-Based Learning at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA (twillis@mbc.edu); and Dr. Joseph Baust, Professor of Early Childhood and Elementary Education and Director of Environmental Education at Murray State University in Murray, KY (joe.baust@coe.murraystate.edu).  All are very active in leadership roles for The Children & Nature Network and have substantial experience with using the natural world as a classroom.  Please feel free to use my name when you contact them.  I have had the pleasure of working with all of them for several years.  Please feel free to post your ideas, suggestions and questions on this site and especially on the Natural Teachers Network group site.  I am pleased you are part of this important journey with us.  We have lots of work to do to get kids away from electronics and out into nature.  John
