Mary Hardcastle is Manager of Environmental Education for the Parks & People Foundation in Baltimore, connecting youth with nature in urban schoolyards, city parks and community green spaces. Mary has been a formal and informal educator for over 15 years. She draws on an undergraduate degree in Botany and an M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts to combine ecology and art in her work and life. As a volunteer for Hooked on Nature, she facilitates Nature Circles and workshops, and she is a guiding member of the Greater Baltimore Children & Nature Collaborative which is gearing up for a 2nd Baltimore Children & Nature Conference in Jan. 2011. Mary also serves on the board of Earthome, an educational non-profit that promotes sustainability in the Chesapeake region. In addition, she has written and directed plays and feature films with nature themes and often incorporates theatre games in her trainings and workshops. She credits her Midwestern roots, loving parents, and the natural world for instilling an appreciation for balance and a commitment to make nature available to everyone forever.
