Students are fascinated by the details of insects they just collected in their own schoolyard as they view them through dissecting microscopes. This film documents the ease of getting students outdoors, the use of simple technology to take learning to a deeper level, and the impact of hands-on personal experiences in the students’ own schoolyards. The science teachers, principal, and nature consultant offer their perspectives on using technology for nature-based science lessons to increase student engagement and learning.
