Event Description

Albany Parks & Recreation is joining with the Children & Nature Network to sponsor activities throughout the month of April to get kids and their families outside.

Let’s G.O. (get outside) is a youth-inspired, youth-led initiative to get people of all ages to play, serve and celebrate outside. The national program promotes being active, having fun and connecting with nature. More than 100,000 people across the country participated in Let’s G.O. in 2011.

Albany events are scheduled the last three Saturdays of April:

• April 14 — Playground date for the family, Lexington Park, 9 a.m.

• April 21 — Procession of the Species parade celebrating the environment through art, music and dance. Start on the Linn County Courthouse steps, 10 a.m.

• April 21 — Geocache demonstration, Monteith Riverpark, 1 p.m.

• April 28 — Talking Water Gardens tour and East Thornton Lake Natural Area adventure, 9 a.m. to noon.
