ABOUT THE LECTURE:
Kids today spend much less time outside than previous generations did -- at great cost to their health, learning and even the future of our environment. But there's a growing movement to reconnect children and nature, and you can be part of it, starting right outside your own door! Join Developmental Psychologist and Media Commentator Dr. Marti Erickson to learn why this is so important and what you can do to get your child and yourself on this fun-filled pathway to learning, health and strong family bonds.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Marti Erickson, Ph.D., co-founder and current chair of the International Children &
Nature Network, retired from the University of Minnesota in 2008 after a long career in child development. Marti continues to be a frequent speaker at major conferences and community events. Since 2006 she also has been co-host (with her daughter Erin) of a weekly parenting show, Mom Enough™, available for listening online at www.MomEnough.com. Marti works not only to fuel the movement to connect children with nature, but also to promote more rigorous research on the impact of nature-based education and therapeutic interventions for people of all ages and abilities. Marti has a long history with St. David's Center as a volunteer consultant and trainer, a past Board member and a partner in program development. St. David's Center recently became a supporting partner with Mom Enough, helping bring research -based information, as well as support and encouragement, to parents from all walks of life.
