Event Description

Seedling Sleuths
Date: Saturday, April 30, 2011
Closest Town: Goderich, Ontario
Meeting Time: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Special Features: Nature tour

Thousands of seedlings were planted on NCC’s Blacker property several years ago and now we need your sleuthing skills to help make sure they can grow into big, healthy trees!  Volunteers will learn to identify the planted tree species, then determine which seedlings are healthy, and which have been damaged. You can also help us solve the mystery of “whodunit?” (hungry herbivores? flooding in the field?).  Your detective work can help turn this former agricultural field into a beautiful, functional forest.  Volunteers will be treated to a nature tour of the property.

Please make sure you eat a solid breakfast, and pack a lunch to bring with you for the day of the event.  Snacks and beverages will be provided by NCC to keep you energized and hydrated.
